Our Amazing Fruits & Vegetables
Apples, Bananas & More
Our organic fruits are chosen at the peak of freshness, packed with vitamins and nutrients. Apples and oranges really deliver a healthy dose of Vitamin C, a natural antioxidant with cancer-preventing properties. Not bad gainst the common cold too.
Berries are true superfoods; they’re loaded with antioxidants and they also have a low glycemic index (GI) which can help regulate blood sugar. They also can help fight inflammatory diseases, like arthritis and allergies.
Rich in potassium, bananas also contain considerable amounts of Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C. Potassium plays an important role in decreasing the risk of high blood pressure and stroke, and helps to reduce stress, so relax and take a sip.
Tropical fruits, like pineapples and papayas, offer their own special healthy properties. Pineapples contain the Bromelain enzyme, which helps with digestion and acts as a natural detox. It’s also known for anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting properties. Low in calories, it’s a super weight loss food too. Papayas are a great source of antioxidants, phytonutrients and Vitamins C and E. They’re great for the skin—papaya facials are popular skin treatments—and they may help in wound healing and skin problems like acne.
Spinach & Kale Leafy Wonders
Low in calories, packed with vitamins, minerals and other phytonutrients, spinach truly is a super hero among green leafy vegetables. It’s an excellent source of Vitamins K & A, magnesium, folate, manganese, iron and so many others, but it’s the phytonutrients—including flavonoids and carotenoids—that make the difference. Spinach’s many different flavonoid compounds have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. It’s also packed with lutein, making it great for eye health.
What about kale? Well, it contains more than ten times the Vitamin C and more Vitamin A and K than spinach, and it’s packed with all kinds of wonderful anti-oxidants as well. It also has more lutein too. Unfortunately, probably because of its somewhat stronger taste, kale loses in the popularity contest against spinach.
Can’t Beat the Beet
The red beet has been around since prehistoric times, but we have the ancient Romans to thank for cultivating this stamina-boosting vegetable. Filled with betaine, beets are known for fighting inflammation and for cancer-prevention properties. They also may help us maintain healthy blood sugar levels, an added bonus. Keep calm and grab a beet!
They may not be “leafy” but they sure are lovely. Cucumbers and Celery provide lots of natural hydration. They also are packed with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, so slice them up and add them to everything.
Carrots have long been a favorite and rightly so. Packed with beta carotene and Vitamin A, carrots are great for eye health. It’s plain to see!
Spice it Up
Ginger, an amazing root that sure is flavorful, it has amazing anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Great for upset tummies too.
Mint not only tastes delicious, it has a long history of therapeutic uses—it supports digestive and respiratory health and fights harmful organisms as well.
